Best Young Statistician Award

The award was proposed in 2005 (Panhellenic Statistics Conference in Rhodes) by Professor N. Balakrishnan (an Honorary Member of GSI since 2007).

A Young Statistician is considered to be a Master student, a Master holder (with at most 1 year since the M.Sc. was awarded), a PhD candidate, or a PhD holder (with at most 3 years since the PhD was awarded). The term young refers to new researchers in Probability and Statistics and it does not in any way refer to the candidate’s age.

The award is accompanied by the amount of 200 euros, which is kindly financed by Professor Balakrishnan, and by waiving the annual membership fee of the Greek Statistical Institute for a 2-year period.

All those interested are kindly requested:

(a) to express their intention to participate in the special session for the award and
(b) submit documentation to prove eligibility for inclusion in the Young Statistician category.
(c) arrange to submit the full paper (in English), ensuring the candidate is listed as one of the authors and that the paper has not been published elsewhere.
